1. What Information Do We Collect?#
Personal information you disclose to us
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register, express interest in our services, participate in activities, or contact us. Personal information collected may include: names, phone numbers, email addresses, usernames, passwords, billing addresses, and contact preferences.
Teacher information. Where a Director invites a Teacher to a co-op, we collect the Teacher's name, email address, and the class assignments and communications associated with their instructional role. Teachers can access only the co-op information necessary to perform that role, as configured by the Director.
Sensitive Information: When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process: health and medical data about enrolled children — which may include allergies, medical conditions, medications, dietary restrictions, accommodations, and emergency-care information that a parent or program requires for safe participation — and student data such as class enrollment records, attendance, and grade levels. This information is submitted by a parent or guardian, or by a Director on the program's behalf, and is used solely for enrollment and program management. We do not use this information for advertising and do not sell it.
Payment Data. To collect co-op fees and subscription payments, our payment processor collects the financial information needed to process a transaction — currently bank-account information for ACH transfers, and, where card payments are offered, card information. LearningSense does not store full bank-account numbers or card numbers on its own servers. All payment data is transmitted to and stored by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's privacy notice at https://stripe.com/privacy.
Information automatically collected
We automatically collect certain information when you visit or use the Services including: Log and Usage Data (IP address, device information, browser type, activity information) and Device Data (information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device). We also collect information through cookies — see our Cookie Policy.
2. How Do We Process Your Information?#
We process your information to: facilitate account creation and authentication; deliver services to users; respond to inquiries and offer support; send administrative information including payment receipts, enrollment confirmations, and policy changes; fulfill and manage orders including payments and enrollment; enable user-to-user communications; request feedback; protect our Services including fraud monitoring and prevention; evaluate and improve our Services; identify usage trends; and comply with our legal obligations.
3. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?#
We may share information in specific situations:
- Business Transfers: We may share information in connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition.
- Other Users in Your Co-op. Information you share within a co-op may be viewed by other members of that co-op according to their role. Directors can view the families, children, teachers, and records within their own co-op. Families can view information made available to them by their Director, such as class rosters and announcements. Teachers can view the class and student information necessary for the classes they teach, as configured by the Director. Information is not shared across unaffiliated co-ops.
4. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?#
We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to gather information when you interact with our Services. These help us maintain security, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save preferences, and assist with basic site functions. Specific information about how we use these technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Policy.
5. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?#
Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your third-party social media account details (such as Google). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information from your social media provider. We will use the information we receive only for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.
6. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?#
We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law. No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than thirty-six (36) months past the termination of the user's account. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information.
7. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?#
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.
8. Children's Data and Parental Consent#
LearningSense is intended for use by adults. Only individuals 18 years or older may create an account. We do not knowingly allow children under 18 to create their own accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child.
Our platform exists to help co-ops, Mother's Day Out programs, and enrichment communities manage the enrollment of minor children. A parent or legal guardian (a "Family" account holder) may submit information about their own minor children for the purpose of enrollment and program management. This information may include a child's name, age, grade level, attendance, enrollment history, and — where a program requires it — health and medical information such as allergies, conditions, medications, dietary needs, and emergency-care notes.
By submitting a child's information, the account holder represents that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and consents to LearningSense storing and processing that information for enrollment and program-management purposes, as described in this Privacy Notice and in our Children's Privacy (COPPA) section below.
A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting support@learningsense.org. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in a manner not permitted by this notice — for example, directly from a child rather than from a verified parent or guardian — we will delete that information promptly.
9. What Are Your Privacy Rights?#
You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time.
Withdrawing your consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at support@learningsense.org.
Opting out of marketing: You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties.
Account Information: You can log in to your account settings to review or change your information. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases, subject to our retention obligations.
10. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features#
Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting. As there is currently no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. California law requires us to disclose this; because there is no industry or legal standard for honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.
11. Do United States Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?#
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you.

Your Rights include: right to know whether we are processing your personal data; right to access your personal data; right to correct inaccuracies; right to request deletion; right to obtain a copy of previously shared data; right to non-discrimination; right to opt out of targeted advertising or sale of personal data. To exercise these rights contact support@learningsense.org.
California "Shine The Light" Law: California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about categories of personal information we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes. Submit requests in writing to support@learningsense.org.
12. Children's Privacy (COPPA)#
LearningSense does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. Our platform is intended for use by adults only. Parents and guardians may submit information about their minor children solely for the purpose of enrolling them in homeschool co-op classes through the platform. By submitting a child's information, the parent or guardian represents that they are the child's legal parent or guardian and expressly consents to the collection, use, and storage of that child's information as described in this Privacy Policy. Parents and guardians have the right to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's personal information at any time by contacting us at support@learningsense.org. LearningSense does not use children's personal information for any purpose other than facilitating co-op enrollment and class management, and does not share children's data with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service.
