Homeschool-Life pricing is per active family, billed once a year: as of October 2026, its site lists $9.95 per family per year for the Connections plan and $11.95 per family per year for the Academy plan, with a 10 family minimum and a 251 family maximum. Optional add-ons like app branding, text messaging, a custom domain, and setup help are billed separately.

Below is what each plan is for, what a co-op your size would pay for the base subscription, the add-ons to budget for, and the questions worth asking before you budget for any co-op software, including ours.

How Homeschool-Life prices its plans

Every Homeschool-Life number in this post comes from its own pricing overview and FAQ pages as of October 2026. Prices can change, so check their site before you make a decision.

Homeschool-Life charges per family, not per student, and invoices the subscription once a year rather than monthly. Its FAQ says there are no required setup or website design fees, and it offers a free 60 day trial.

PlanPrice as listedWhat it is for
Connections$9.95 per active family per yearCommunity tools: membership, communication, calendar, website builder, mobile app, and online payment
Academy$11.95 per active family per yearEverything in Connections plus class and program registration, class management, and teacher administration
Business$310.80 per yearOther kinds of organizations, with ongoing, event, and class registration

Most co-ops that run classes will look at Academy, since that is the plan Homeschool-Life lists with class registration and teacher administration. A support group or community that does not run classes may fit Connections. If you are considering Business, ask their team how that price is counted for your group.

The minimum and maximum, in plain numbers

Homeschool-Life's FAQ says a minimum charge of 10 families and a maximum charge of 251 families apply. That sets a floor and a ceiling on the base subscription:

  • Connections: at least $99.50 a year, and no more than $2,497.45 a year.
  • Academy: at least $119.50 a year, and no more than $2,999.45 a year.

The FAQ also says only active families count toward your licensed family count, and families who are no longer participating can be parked so they are not included at renewal. That is worth doing every year before the invoice arrives, because a family list slowly collects people who have moved on.

What a co-op pays at different sizes

Here is the base annual subscription, before any add-ons, at a few common co-op sizes. The math is active families times the per family rate, with the minimum and maximum applied.

Active familiesConnections ($9.95)Academy ($11.95)
8$99.50 (10 family minimum)$119.50 (10 family minimum)
25$248.75$298.75
60$597.00$717.00
120$1,194.00$1,434.00
300$2,497.45 (251 family maximum)$2,999.45 (251 family maximum)

If your co-op divides software cost across families, the per family number is easy to pass along: about $12 a year per family on Academy, before add-ons. A small co-op under 10 families pays the minimum, so its real cost per family is higher.

Add-ons to budget for

The pricing overview lists optional add-ons with their own prices. As of October 2026:

  • App branding: $79 a year.
  • Family reports: $3 per family per year on Connections and Academy.
  • Text and SMS messaging: $60 to $325 a year.
  • A domain with forwarded email: $35 a year, or a domain with email and SSL: $99 a year.
  • Dedicated email: $30 a year.
  • Optional account setup: $150 one time on Connections, $250 one time on Academy and Business.
  • Optional design customization: from $59 one time, with larger custom work quoted separately.

None of these are required. But if your board expects a custom web address, text alerts, or help with setup, add those lines before you compare totals with anything else.

What about payment processing?

Homeschool-Life lists online payment as included on all three plans. Its pricing overview and FAQ pages do not publish processing rates, so if your co-op will collect tuition online, ask their team what a family payment costs to process and who pays it. When a co-op collects thousands of dollars in tuition each semester, that number can matter as much as the subscription.

We wrote more about how payment methods differ in cost in ACH vs. credit card payments for co-op tuition.

Questions to ask before you budget for any co-op software

  • How is a family counted, and when? Active, enrolled, invited, or everyone on the list?
  • Is the price annual or monthly, and when is the invoice due?
  • Which plan includes class registration, and which features cost extra?
  • What does it cost to process an online payment, and does the co-op or the family cover it?
  • Is there a minimum or maximum charge?
  • Can you export your family and payment data if you ever leave?

Write the answers down for each option side by side. A short sheet like that makes the board conversation much easier than comparing websites from memory.

How LearningSense pricing is structured

LearningSense is priced a different way: a flat monthly or annual plan price by program size, plus a small platform fee on payments collected online. The plans are Free ($0), Sprout ($29 a month or $290 a year), Grow ($59 a month or $590 a year), and Thrive ($99 a month or $990 a year). Free covers up to 10 families, Sprout up to 35, and Grow up to 75. Starting November 1, 2026, Thrive covers up to 200 families, and programs over 200 families or with several programs can talk to us about the Network plan.

Online tuition is collected by bank transfer (ACH) through Stripe. Starting November 1, 2026, the platform fee is 1.0% on Free, 0.7% on Sprout, and 0.5% on Grow and Thrive. Stripe's ACH fee of 0.8%, capped at $5, applies on top of that. For example, a $200 tuition payment on Grow costs $1.60 in Stripe's ACH fee plus $1.00 in platform fee. Co-ops that take cash and checks can record those payments offline on every plan.

Which structure costs less depends on your family count, how much tuition you collect online, and which add-ons you need, so run your own numbers with both.

You can see every plan and what it includes on our pricing page.
